Rob Taurus 1/72 Airfix Spitfire Canopies
By Matt Bittner
In my previous Rob Taurus article I was lamenting the fact that Falcon hasn't produced new, replacement, vacuformed canopies in quite a long time, and how Rob Taurus has come to market providing new canopies. This time they have two separate canopies for the new-tool Airfix Mk.I Spitfire. The first canopy, #72064, is the early, Mk.I version, with the flatter canopy and "squatter" front windscreen. This can be used in conjunction with the Mk.I/IIa release. The second canopy, #72065 is
the version for the Mk.Ia Spitfire, and can be used with either Airfix's first Mk.Ia release, or the Mk.I/IIa release (as the canopy to be used with the Mk.II - or later Mk.Ia). Both canopies are very clear and look great. Hopefully they'll work better than the Pavla canopy which I used on my PR Mk.IV conversion. With that one I had to pull each clear pieces' sides apart so they would meet the fuselage sides. If you're looking for replacement, vac canopies for your Airfix 1/72 Spitfire Mk.I/Ia/II, then you'll definitely want to pick up these canopies from Rob Taurus.
Huge thanks to Rob Taurus for sending the canopies to review.
