Eduard 1/72 Eduard Fokker Dr.I Photoetch
By Matt Bittner
A normal Eduard Weekend Edition kit is released with just the plastic, no masks nor photoetch, along with one or two marking options. Lately Eduard has also released one of their photoetch sets (usually from a ProfiPACK release) to go along with that Weekend Edition release so those that may want to add photoetch detail to the Weekend Edition can but with extra expense. The latest release of their 1/72 Fokker Dr.I kit is a Weekend Edition so hence, comes without photoetch.
This set of photoetch (#SS576) is actually the same set that has come with non-Weekend Edition kits in the past so there's nothing on this fret that hasn't been seen before. For the interior there is sidewall detail for each fuselage half (but is actually a single piece), engine pressure pump, control column with rudder pedals, a control "blip switch", a replacement seat and belts for that seat and a compass for the starboard fuselage side. For the exterior of the model you receive replacement cooling jackets and levers for the guns, wiring for the engine (which I would actually replace with the Brassin engine since the kit engine is too small), control horns and rigging for the control surfaces, a replacement prop boss, fuselage step and fuselage hand-holds for the rear fuselage.
This is a great set to add more detail to an already outstanding kit, although like I keep mentioning definitely replace the kit's engine, especially with Eduard's release of a Brassin replacement.
Huge thanks to Eduard for sending the set to accompany the Weekend Edition kit.
