Starfighter Decals 1/72 Boeing F4B-4 Part 3
By Matt Bittner
When Starfighter first sent decals for review, they sent the first two of their F4B-4 series. I now have Part 3 which is devoted entirely to the U.S. Marines. All of these are the standard U.S. Navy scheme of light gray painted metal parts (fuselage and tail), aluminum-doped fabric areas (upper-wing underside and all of the lower wing) and chrome yellow upper-wing top-side. This set has markings for four F4B-4s:
- F4B-4 9241, VF-10M, 1935, which is the same aircraft that's on display at NASM
- F4B-4 9010, VF-9M, 1934
- F4B-4 9016, VF-10M, 1933 (unusual in that it has the older red/white/blue tail stripes unlike any other Marine F4B-4)
- F4B-4 9242, VF-9M, 1934
Another exceptional sheet by Starfighter, this time made even better. All 1/72nd Starfighter decals are now being printed by Cartograf out of Italy which means excellent registration and colors. This sheet not only carries all decals necessary for all four aircraft, but also includes prop stripes as well. The only thing missing are prop manufacturer markings, available from Yellow Wings.
