Brengun 1/72 Yakovlev Yak-1 Photoetch
By Matt Bittner
While the Brengun 1/72 Yak-1 is a welcome addition and a decent kit, it lacks a little bit in detail, especially in the cockpit. It still builds into an excellent kit out-of-the-box, especially with the canopy closed, but open the canopy and you'll wish you had a little more detail in the cockpit. Especially seat belts; for some reason Brengun didn't include seat belts on their small photoetch fret that is part of the kit. So, of course, this extra photoetch set contains those seat belts.
Plus more. There is a lot of side-wall and console detail this extra photoetch set adds. It also adds a bit more detailed instrument panel – with included instrument "film" – to which there are other photoetch and scratch parts added (follow the instructions). Finally this extra photoetch set also adds more detail to the landing gear and landing gear well.
So if you want to open the canopy of the Brengun kit and wished for more detail than definitely pick up this set. It will add that extra "flair" to make the kit look better.
Huge thanks to Brengun for sending this to review.
