Model Craft Micro Snips

When I received the Model Craft Mini Scissors from Billing Boats USA I thought of a few uses for them.  Since that article I have used them on decals, and they work perfectly for that use.  I was also wondering about cutting out vacuformed canopies (I haven't tried, but they should work) as well as cutting photoetch (not recommended at all).  Since I asked this question to Billing Boats, they sent a set of scissors they thought should work with photoethc, these Micro Snips.

I have used them on photoetch.  Word of warning, though.  They cut photoetch very well, so be careful.  I got a little too close to the actual photoetch part and removed part of it (and it stayed on the photoetch fret).  So, ample light and ample "seeing" is all part of modeling, and this is no exception.

I was able to cut another photoetch piece for the dormant Eduard 1/72 Albatros D.V (if you've been following my Model Craft articles you know I brought this same kit out to try the Pick & Place Tool) right at the edge of the part, leaving nothing to sand away.  Once this was cut out I definitely wanted to glue it into place so I wouldn't lose the part, so you can see in the photos I again used the Pick & Place Tool to glue this photoetch piece in place.  It worked extremely well.

I am thinking these scissors will work with other, "tougher" type material, so I will eventually try them on plastic, cutting a part away from the sprue.  However, as I have nothing that I can use of for that use yet, I won't try it until then.

Definitely recommended, especially if, as I'm thinking, they can be used for more than just photoetch.  I'm now wondering if I can use them to cut the wire I use for rigging my biplanes.  Hmmm...

Huge thanks to Billing Boats USA for these scissors to review.
