Walking into the local hobby shop the other day, I took a peek at his new release wall and sitting there was this pair of aluminum barrels. A closer look revealed that they are a new product put out by Eduard, a rather surprising move by this well-known aftermarket accessory firm.
The first release, number 35-001, is for the Tamiya Panther kit. The one-piece barrel is designed to replace the kit part completely and features a muzzle brake, tapered barrel, and a plug to insert into the mantlet. The barrel is drilled out partway, resulting in a very realisticreplacement.
The T-72 barrel is a bit more detailed than the Panther barrel, with the one-piece barrel accented with a small fret of photoetch. The barrel is very well done, and the photoetch add that little extra detailing that will really make this barrel stand out.
If you're looking for an easy way out of making that tank barrel perfect, you definitely will want to pick these up. With the quality of these first two barrels I can't wait to see what they come out with next. Perhaps a barrel for ICM's 100mm BS-3, or go way out on a limb and release a bunch of 1/72 barrels for the ESCI and Revell armor kits.
These barrels are available fromĀ Skyway Model Shop for $11.99 each.
