It appears the majory difference between this new series, "Airframe Album" and their prior "Airframe & Miniature" series is the lack of a full modeling section. While there is some for the modeler, it isn't as robust as the "Airframe & Miniature" series. Like the prior series, though, "Airframe Album" is still the book to buy when building the subject covered. Tons of detail shots and plenty of camouflage information will make all modeler's very pleased.
The book is broken up into the following chapters:
- Technical Description
- Evolution - Prototype, Production and Projected Variants
- The Survivor
- Camouflage & Markings
- Big Owl
There are also the following Appendices:
- Kit List
- Accessory List
- Decal List
- Bibliography
The biggest advantage this book brings to the 'Uhu' modeler are the amount of photographs taken of the only He 219 currently under restoration, that being held by The Smithsonian. Lots and lots of color photos covering everything you could ever want. If you want to super detail an He 219 model, you must buy this book.
Although the modeling sections aren't as large as what it's in the "Airframe & Miniature" series, there still is the break out of available (as of the writing of the book) kits, decals and aftermarket accessories. Plus, Chapter 5 deals with the upcoming 1/32 Revell kit.
An excellent book, one an He 219 modeler must have.
My thanks to Valiant Wings Publishing for sending this review copy.
