Numerous countries had representatives that flew with the French during World War I (WWI). Jon Guttman does an excellent job in this book outlining those men. There are 26 countries represented and not only does Mr. Guttman outline each pilot's service during the war, but when known he also outlines when the men were born, to whom, and usually in which city of that country. In addition - again, when known - he also provides a brief post-war career.
One country that is not covered in this book is the United States of America (USA). That's because these fliers are well known and have been covered in earlier publications such as History of the Lafayette Flying Corps and Lafayette Escadrille Pilot Biographies etc. Refer to those publications for the best history of USA pilots.
Most pilots' aircraft are well covered not only in the narrative, but also with ample color profiles. There are plenty of profiles to provide not only eye candy, but also incentive for modelers.
This is another winner released by Aeronaut, covering a topic not well known about the French air service. There were a lot of people that felt allegiance to France higher than their own personal well being.
