Yellow-Wings Decals 1/72 Multi-Aircraft Series #2
By Matt Bittner
Yellow-Wings continues their release in the 1/72 Multi-Aircraft Series where they provide different aircraft on the same decal sheet. Personally I like this because it's a bit more of a different combination and if you have these models in your collection, then you can completely use a decal sheet, instead of having partial ones around while waiting to buy yet another model of the same subject.
This time around Yellow-Wings provide markings for:
- SB2U-2 Vindicator, VS-72 USS Wasp, CV-7, 1941: black tail; yellow cowl, fuselage and wing stripes; can be used on any Vindicator kit
- P-40B, 55th Pursuit Squadron, Hamilton Field, CA, 1940: finished in typical olive drab over neutral gray with a white spinner and two fuselage bands; any P-40B kit is recommended, but why would you use anything but the Airfix kit?
- SBD-2 #2106, "Midway Madness", USS Lexington, Jan/Feb 1941: lemon yellow tail with red on the upper part of the cowl; can be used on any Dauntless kit; however, the best kit being Hasegawa
- F3F-2, USN VF-6, USS Enterprise, 1937-1938; true blue tail with "section color" for the cowl, wing chevron and fuselage stripe (willow green is shown on the instructions); can be used with any F3F-2 kit, but the best one out there is from Special Hobby
Decals are very nicely printed and appear to be in register, printed by Microscale.
So, if you're looking for different markings for any – or all – of these aircraft then definitely pick up this sheet. There are decals so you can build all four from this one sheet.
My thanks to Yellow-Wings Decals for providing this sheet for review.
