Overview
New from Yellow Wings Decals are 1/48 scale pre-WWII decals for the U.S. Navy Curtiss F11C/BFC-2 "Goshawk". Printed by Microscale these are fine quality decals, that also include an abundant amount of detailed information, regarding the Goshawk markings and paint schemes as well as general squadron data.
The Decals
Included in set 48-058 are pre-WWII (1937-38) markings for four complete USN Curtiss F11C-2/BFC-2 Goshawks for use with either the Classic Airframe or Lindberg kits. The first three are for "Top Hat" aircraft assigned to the USS Saratoga: one from VF-1B with yellow markings (a F11C-2), one from VB-2B with red markings (a BFC-2) and one from VB-3 with green markings (also a BFC-2).
The fourth, which isn't represented on the cover card (but is documented in the instructions), is for a VB-6 (Bomber 6) BFC-2 assigned to the USS Enterprise that is sporting the Charging Ram emblem and has black squadron markings. All four schemes include the fuselage band and wing chevrons for the Section Commanders aircraft.
Conclusion
Between the wars, U.S. Navy aircraft is one of my primary interests and as a result have used many Yellow Wings Decal products, and definitely recommend them.
