Starfighter Decals 1/72 Boeing P-12E U.S.A.A.C.
By Matt Bittner
This release from Starfighter Decals is for the Matchbox 1/72 Boeing P-12E. Since the kit can still be found from time-to-time, it's a much welcome release. It covers the following aircraft:
- P-12E, 31-241, 24th PS, Canal Zone, 1934
- P-12E, 31-17, 16th PG, Canal Zone, 1934
- P-12E, 8th PG Commander, Langley Field, VA
- P-12E, 32-63, 36th PS, Langley Field, VA
All aircraft have OD fuselage with yellow wings and tail surfaces. The first and last machines sport red cowls, the second a blue cowl, and the third just a "plain" OD one. Since the decals are printed by Cartograf they are spot on in register and sport beautiful colors. Quite stunning, actually.
I suspect you should be able to fit the Starfighter F4B-4 cockpit into the P-12E, as they're basically the same aircraft. Granted there may be changes because the kits are different, but the layout should be the same.
Another great decal sheet from Starfighter to "help out" the older kits.
Huge thanks to Starfighter Decals for the review set.
