Starfighter Decals 1/72 Boeing P-12E USAAC Pt. 2 Decals
By Matt Bittner
Hot on the heels of their 1/72 Boeing F4B-3/P-12E conversion is this sheet for Boeing P-12Es by Starfighter Decals. The following four aircraft are covered:
- P-12E, 31-246, which is the one where the "gold" decals are applied and assigne to the HQ 18th PG, Wheeler Field, Hawaii
- P-12E, 32-10, which was one of the Skylarks, a demonstration team from Maxwell Field, AL
- P-12E, maybe 32-46, assigned to the 35th PS, Langley
- P-12E, 31-550, assigned to the 6th PS, and which is reproduced at the National Museum of the USAF in Dayton, OH
All aircraft, except for the "Skylarks" one, are finished with olive drab fuselages and "Yellow 4" flying surfaces. The "Skylark" machine had a "Blue 23" fuselage.
Decals are printed by Cartograf and are up to their usual high standards with no registration problems evident. Colors are fantastic, especially the gold stripes for 31-246.
Note the decals can be used with either the Monogram conversion, or the Matchbox kit (the Monogram F4B-4 has just a little more finesse than the Matchbox kit). If you go the Monogram route, then not only will you want the conversion mentioned at top, but you could also use Starfighter's EZ Rigging for the Monogram kit, along with their cockpit set. Also be aware Starfighter's "Part 1" decal release for the P-12E as well.
Another superb release from Starfighter Decals. Our thanks to them for sending this to review.
