- F-8C VF-111 USS Intrepid, September, 1968
- F-8C VF-24, August, 1967 (x2)
I mention "times two" on that last one because the markings are basically the same, but there are two separate aircraft with different tail numbers.
The two from VF-24 are unusual in another way. Their kill markings were applied to the strakes under the tail. Since I'm not a Crusader expert I've never seen this before and think it's very interesting. Definitely something different from my point of view.
One excellent point. Since ALPS can print metallic inks, Starfighter has three metallic decals to help. These are for underneath the horizontal tails, right at the leading edge (which means you'll need to add those last, so hopefully the fit is good (which is should be since these were "all moving")) and the third is for underneath the starboard wing on the fuselage. Look closely at the instructions for placement.
I've heard great things about the Platz Crusaders and now with this - and the other two sheets being reviewed - there are plenty of different markings to help you finish your F-8C.
Thanks to Starfighter Decals for the review sample.
