RetroWings 1/144 E-2C Hawkeye Props
By Matt Bittner
For their first conversion RetroWings provides two eight-bladed props to turn the Revell 1/144 E-2C Hawkeye into the E-2C+. While the conversion isn't as easy as their Harrier intakes, it still is a great conversion and one that will add spice to the otherwise excellent Revell kit.
Since all blades are separate, removing them from their sprue/pour block will take time and patience. You'll need to do this carefully so you won't break any of the blades. Once removed, you'll need to decide if you want to paint the props prior to adding them to the spinner, or after. I am really not sure what the best way is. RetroWings recommends spraying everything with white primer, one reason is because the tips of the props had white/red/white stripes.
Once everything is painted and assembled, then you'll need to add the decals. There are decals for the logos as well as black rectangles to be used as the bottom edge of each blade's leading edge. Be sure to follow the directions.
Everything supplied in this conversion is top-notch. While the decals are one solid piece of decal material, and you'll need to cut as close to the image as possible, they're still very well done.
If you want to update your Revell Hawkeye then by all means pick up the RetroWings props. You'll need patience to get everything lined up and finished, but once you're done you'll have a unique model that will definitely turn heads.
My thanks to RetroWings for the review sample.
