Modell-Hobby 1/72 Airfix TBD Devastator Photoetch

By Matt Bittner

Believe it or not, even though other kits have come on the market, the Airfix 1/72 TBD Devastator is still considered to be the best kit. Sure, it's outdated and most panel lines are raised, but it still has great detail overall and is considered to be pretty accurate. So, it's always great to receive aftermarket for this still go-to kit.

Modell-Hobby supplies a single-piece photoetch instrument panel - that's to be bent - along with a two-piece clear film. Since the instrument panel is bent in a "zig-zag" fashion, it was best to supply the film in two pieces, so each piece can fit on each "leg". After bending, you'll want to paint the instrument panel black (and follow the directions to add some color to it) then apply each piece of clear film to each bent section. Paint that backs of those white, and the instrument panel is ready to be installed into the model.

We thank Modell-Hobby for allowing us to rview this set. Modell-Hobby 1/72 Airfix TBD Devastator Photoetch Detail
