Mark I 1/144 Helicopter Flight Deck
By Matt Bittner
A couple of weeks ago I was discussing cardstock display bases with a modeling friend. He didn't like them because he thought them "too flat" and "not dimensional". Personally, I feel they're a great boon to the hobby, especially if you use them as a basis to starting a more robust base. Even if you don't want to add anything to them I feel they provide a lot more interest than just displaying them on a contest table, as people's eyes are more drawn to having something underneath your model than just the table surface.
This Helicopter Flight Deck I feel is perfect for displaying Mark I's 1/144 Wessex helicopters on. While I plan on eventually gluing it to a wood base, it is far better to display a helicopter on it than on "nothing at all". Since the only 1/144 helicopter I've finished is the PLA WZ-10 I thought I would give a sense of how the cardstock base looks under an actual model. Even though the WZ-10 is a little dark for the Helicopter Flight Deck you still get a sense of how it will all go together.
This is another winner from Mark I and they have about 11 cardstock bases in total you can choose from.
Huge, huge thanks to Kits-Shop for supplying the base to review.
