Eduard Brassin 1/48 A6M2 Cockpit
By Jacob Russell
Eduard has introduced a Brassin multimedia cockpit for their new A6M2 kit. It includes 50 parts. 29 of these are 3D printed resin. There are 19 parts on the PE fret, a small decal sheet and an sheet including the gunsight lenses.
The cockpit floor is an amazing display of 3D printing. The floor includes the rear cockpit bulkhead, rudder pedals and various floor items. Additional items are the instrument panel, seat, throttle quadrant, gunsight, sidewall consoles, seat adjustment lever, cowling machine guns, spent cartridge chutes, headrest, etc.
The PE fret includes the seat harness, small instrument panel and rudder pedal straps. There are a number of effective ways to paint such a highly detailed cockpit. One method is to give the major components a black undercoat and then spray very thin coats of either Nakajima or Mitsubishi Cockpit Green at an angle to retain shadows and recesses, followed by careful drybrushing of raised elements plus an oil wash and selective use of weathering pencils.
Eduard has hit another home run with this Brassin cockpit. Eduard's new A6M2 was already the best 1/48th scale Model 21 kit on the market. Right out of the box it's accurate and highly detailed and this Brassin cockpit takes the detail to another level entirely. I recommend this Brassin cockpit and I would like to thank Eduard for the review sample.
