Eduard 1/72 Me 262A-1a Masks
By Jacob Russell
Airfix introduced a new 1/72nd scale kit of the revolutionary Messerschmitt Me 262A-1a jet engine fighter last year, and Eduard immediately began issuing aftermarket enhancements for it. This mask set is the first Me 262 item we'll take a look at on Internet Modeler.
The set consists of 13 masks composed of rice paper tape. You get masks for the main wheels, windscreen, and the fixed and opening canopy sections. In the case of the wheel masks, you paint the entire wheel and tire your preferred tire color, mask off the tires and then paint the wheels semigloss black. This is easy enough to do!
Airfix's new Me 262 kit was immediately embraced by 1/72nd scale Luftwaffe modelers. It is an accurate and well detailed kit that holds its own against the recent Academy and older Hasegawa kits; it also undercuts both on price.
I gravitate to aftermarket items that simplify mundane tasks such as masking canopies. I'd much rather use a pre-cut mask set than make my own, and I suspect many other modelers feel the same way.
I recommend this mask set and I would like to thank Eduard for the review sample.
