Eduard 1/72 Hawker Tempest Mk.V Enhancements
By Jacob Russell
Hot on the heels of Airfix's new Hawker Tempest Mk.V Eduard has introduced canopy masks and a new photo-etch set for it, so let's have a quick look at them.
Canopy Masks (CX627)
This is a straightforward set and consists of masks for the mainwheels, windscreen and canopy. You'll use your preferred liquid masking agent to fill in areas of the canopy and mainwheels. Eduard shows just where to apply the liquid masking with their simple instructions.
Photo-etch (73772)
The PE set consists of 63 pieces on 2 frets. The first fret is devoted to the cockpit and many of the parts are pre-painted. The upgrades include a new instrument panel, rudder pedal boards, seat harness, throttle quadrant, sidewall consoles, compass face, etc.
The second fret includes parts for the cockpit and the overall airframe. It includes main and tailwheel doors, radiator face, and some complex wheelwell detail. Additional upgrades include a cockpit step, oil cooler exit door, etc.

Airfix's new Hawker Tempest Mk.V eclipses Academy's older kit. It is state of the art, accurate and well detailed right from the box. Eduard's new PE set ups the detail significantly in the cockpit and the airframe and the masks will be easy to use. I recommend these sets and would like to thank Eduard for the review sample.
