Eduard 1/72 EF-2000 Canopy Mask
By Chris Banyai-Riepl
Overview
The Hasegawa 1/72 EF-2000 Eurofighter is a beautiful kit, one that will go together well and looks every bit the part when finished. Since its release, Eduard has released several sets for the kit. The most recent is this, providing various masks.
The Masks
The Eurofighter, like most modern jets, has a large, almost frameless canopy. This makes masking both simple and difficult. Simple, because there are only a few edges to worry about. The difficult part comes from having large expanses of clear that need to be completely covered. Eduard's method of handling this is to provide a solid edge piece that accurately conforms to the shape of the framing, and then let the modeler fill in the remaining section with liquid mask. This set is no exception, and you'll want to break out your bottle of liquid mask on this one as both the windscreen and main canopy will need some.
Also on the mask sheet are masks for the main wheels and nose wheel. These are setup to provide masks for the hub, so you can mask that off and paint the remaining tire with your favorite tire color.
Conclusion
This is a simple set, but one which will help speed up the painting time of your EF-2000 kit. My thanks to Eduard for the review sample.
