Eduard 1/72 Airfix Defiant Mk.I SUPERFABRIC Seatbelts
By Matt Bittner
I was a little aprehensive when Eduard first released their SUPERFABRIC seatbelts. On all of their interior photoetch sets Eduard has always provided a set of seatbelts for whatever aircraft they were catering to at that time. When Eduard started "pre-painting" their interior sets then all the better in there was less work to do. However, if you ever started to bend the belts to fit the seat you could easily chip away the paint from the photoetched brass. This meant, if this happened, you would have to re-paint the belts anyway.
Now with the SUPERFABRIC line, there is no more painting. I wasn't sure exactly how these would work until I tried them out, and when I did I was sold. One important piece of advice that Eduard provides is you DO NOT use CA on these when you glue them down. All you need is any type of "white glue" (like Elmers, etc.). And with careful "bending" you can get these belts into almost any position you want. While my picture is not of a Defiant seat (it's for an AZ Model 1/72 Spitfire Mk.IX) you can see how they look when applied.
So if you want to add belts to your Airfix 1/72 Defiant Mk.I seats, then by all means pick up the Eduard set (#73031).
My thanks to Eduard for these belts to review.
