Eduard 1/72 Academy F-15C MSIP II Aftermarket
By Matt Bittner
Eduard is known for usually producing two sets of photoetch for models. One set, known as the Zoom, is primarily meant for the interior. When they release a "full" photoetch set they normally include the Zoom fret and add more to it.
The Zoom photoetch fret (which is also contained in their full Self-Adhesive set) includes pieces primarily for the cockpit: instrument panel pieces to add to the kit's plastic; items to add to the side consoles; replacement rudder pedals; plenty of bits, bobs and seat belts for the ejection seat; items to add to the interior behind the seat; rear view mirrors and other items for the canopy; a replacement Heads-Up-Display (HUD) and finally one antenna for the underside of the nose.
The "full set" adds another photoetch fret which includes parts for the weapon pylons (sway bars); fans for the inside of the exhausts; pieces to enhance the area under the canopy raising mechanism; external pieces to add to the "turkey feather" exhausts; various items for the intakes; wiring for the landing gear; replacement oleo struts for the main landing gear; additions to the landing gear doors; a whole bunch of vent-looking items for all 'round the airframe; even more details for the canopy; and finally details for the tail skid, including items to show it deployed.
So, if you're looking for just some photoetch to add to the cockpit, pick up the Zoom set (#SS519). If you want more to really dress up your Academy 1/72 F-15C MSIP II, then pick up the "full" photoetch set (#73 519). Whichever you decide to use either will really make the Academy kit even better. In addition, Eduard has already released masks for the kit.
My thanks to Eduard for sending the review sets.
