Eduard 1/48 Spitfire Mk.II Brassin Cockpit
By Jacob Russell
This cockpit is for Eduard's 1/48th scale Spitfire Mk.II kit. It consists of 68 parts, 31 of which are resin. 35 parts are photo-etch, on a single fret, plus you get a small sheet of acetate containing 4 gun sight lenses and a decal sheet. The resin parts include a separate floor, sidewalls, seat and cockpit bulkheads. The detail of these parts has to be seen to be appreciated, because it's spectacular. I recommend that you check your preferred references, because some early Spitfire cockpits were painted a different shade of Interior Green called Apple Green (close to FS 34138 and/or Humbrol 131).

The PE fret has a mix of pre-painted and plain parts. It includes 2 different instrument panels, alternatives to the Brassin resin bits. The fret also includes the compass mount, seat harness, flare gun cartridge holder, throttle levers, headrest armor, etc. Take your time with the assembly and painting of this cockpit and I guarantee that you will be happy with the finished product.

Conclusion
This is a top notch set. Eduard's Mk.II has an excellent cockpit right out of the box but the Brassin set takes the detail to another level. I recommend this Brassin cockpit and I would like to thank Eduard for the review sample.
