This photo etch set (item number 49612) is for HobbyBoss's new P-47 "Easy Assembly Kit". It consists of 51 pieces, the majority of which are pre-painted, on a single self-adhesive fret. Most of the parts are for the cockpit. You get a new instrument panel, seatbelt harness, replacement sidewall consoles, throttle quadrant, etc. Additional items include the sliding mechanism under the canopy, drop tank cap, exhaust outlet covers and oil cooler screens. The set also includes a drop tank hose which is one-dimensional and best replaced with wire or stretched sprue.
HobbyBoss's new P-47 is at the opposite end of the spectrum from Tamiya's recent P-47 kits when it comes to detail. The HobbyBoss kit is aimed at a different market. They simplified certain parts (the landing gear doors are molded integrally with the landing gear and the engine and cowl are a one piece molding) to reduce the price but the kit is pretty good, all things considered. I recommend this set and I would like to thank Eduard for providing the review sample.
