Eduard 1/48 Harrier GR.1/GR.3 Photo Etch Part Two
By Jacob Russell
Eduard recently released 2 additional photo-etch sets for the Kinetic Harrier GR.1 and GR. 3 kits. They are companion sets to the 2 Zoom sets I reviewed earlier. They are as follows:
1) 491172 Harrier GR.1
This 76 piece set combines the 30 piece FE 1173 ZOOM set with another 46 part brass fret. The Zoom fret includes a new instrument panel, sidewall consoles, throttle quadrant, etc. The second fret is extensive and is devoted to the air frame It includes landing gear oleo scissors, brake lines, detail for the front landing gear inner door, etc. The most important and complex step is replacing the vortex vanes for the leading edge of each upper wing. First you sand off the kit's molded-on vanes. Then you tape a PE template to the upper wing, fold up the individual vanes and glue them to the wings with the template as your placement guide. This is quite an undertaking, so make sure you have your Divisor or magnifier of choice, patience, a steady hand and a good PE folding tool.
1) 491173 Harrier GR.3
This 76 piece set is identical to the set reviewed above.
Conclusion
If you're a fan of the Kinetic Harrier GR.1 and GR.3 kits and you'd like to enhance them with significantly greater detail Eduard has you covered with these photo-etch sets. I recommend them and I would like to thank Eduard for the review samples.
