Balkan Models 1/144 F-16C Micro Falcon Decals
By Matt Bittner
There have been a couple of 1/144 F-16s on the marking, but none have been accurate. Thankfully Revell came to the rescue lately by coming out with a completely new-tool F-16C, and it's a gem of a kit. Unfortunately, however, Revell of late has only been including one decal choice in their 1/144 kits, and that choice is usually a Tigermeet aircraft, or one that is unusually marked. Such is the case with the Revell 1/144 F-16C. While the markings that come with the kit are outstanding, it is for a machine that is quite colorful, flying out of Texas. If you want a "typical" operational F-16, then you were left on your own. Now, thanks to Balkan Models, you have an easy choice in alternate markings for your 1/144 F-16.
There are six aircraft catered for on this sheet from Balkan Models. They are:
-
F-16C Block 40D, #88-0550, USAF 555th FS, Aviano AB, 1999, finished in the typical two-tone gray
- F-16C Block 40E, #90-0030, Royal Bahraini AF 1st FS, Sheikh Isa AB, 2008, finished overall in "gray mixed"
- F-16C Block 52, #03-0040, Polish AF 10th ELT, Lask AB, 2008, finished in two grays
- F-16C Block 50R, #93-1053, Hellenic AF 347 Mira, Nea Anghialos AB, 2004, finished in "blue gray", "sand gray" and "navy gray" in a wrap-around scheme
- F-16C Block 30, #355, IDF (Israeli) AF 117 SQN, Ramat David AB, 2003, finished in tan, light green and sand, over light gray
- F-16C Block 50, #94-0088, Turkish AF 152 FILO, Konya AB, 2006, finished in the typical two-tone gray
The decals are very nicely printed and appear to be in register. If you want more from your Revell kit than the Texas markings supplied, then Balkan has the decal sheet you want.
A huge "thank you" to Balkan Models for not only supplying the decal sheet for review, but for also coming out with an F-16C sheet to begin with. Now if only we could get aftermarket decals for Revell's 1/144 F-15E.
