When I first saw a photo of this car I thought it had been a clever bit of computer trickery, but when several photos started cropping up, from several different sources, I knew it was true. American Airlines apparently purchased a VW Beetle for promotional purposes and painted it up in AA livery, with the famous red, white and blue colors all over the silver vehicle.
This sheet will allow you to finish your 1/24 VW in this interesting scheme, with a very complete set of decals. An interesting touch is the inclusion of all the turn signal lights as well as the VW logos. Depending on the kit you have you might or might not want to use these. The rear window gets a very large white decal with the AA.com logo on it, as well as the rear quarter windows, although these remain clear.
One addition to the car that isn't included in the instructions are the 'flying surfaces', these being a pair of stubby wings and a short vertical fin on the roof. Unfortunately there isn't a pattern to make these from either, but there are ample photos that show the basic shape, so building these up shouldn't be too hard.
This is a very interesting little VW and it definitely will turn heads at the local model meeting. If you've been itching to build a Beetle but wanted something different, grab this sheet.
My thanks to JBOT Decals for the review sample and these can be ordered from hiswebsite.
