HISTORY
The ASLAV-25 RV is the Australian version of the Marine Corps' LAV-25. The "RV" stands for Reconnaissance Vehicle. The Australians aquired the LAV-25 from the US in 1990 for testing and it was put into service in 1992. The basic configuration is the same as that of the US version, with additional suspension upgrades as well as targeting sights and improved air conditioning.
PHOTOETCH SET
Eduard's new set for the ASLAV-25 mirrors many of their other LAV sets. Details include the front bow plate, engine grills, barrel flash suppressor, and stowage baskets. There are also extensive additions for stowage hooks along the rear of the vehicle, including tool straps. The Australian machine gun also gets an upgrade with ammo belts and a full brass cradle and ammo box. As with all Eduard sets, the detail is superb and the instructions are clear and concise. Although the set is designed for the ASLAV-25, the majority of parts could be applied to any LAV-25 variant.
CONCLUSION
Overall I would highly recommend this set for anyone wishing to upgrade their ASLAV-25 RV, or any LAV-25. Having worked with another Eduard LAV set, I can tell you it adds a whole new level of detail to the kit. My thanks to Eduard for providing the review sample.
