Eduard 1/35 Barracuda Camouflage Netting (Desert)
By Chris Banyai-Riepl
Overview
While armored vehicles are painted up to be camouflaged and blend in, that's often not enough. Enter the camouflage netting. This is some sort of canvas covering that is designed to disrupt shapes by creating a pattern of light and shadow, as well as color variation on the fabric portion of the netting. The result can be quite effective, and over the years camouflage netting has evolved along with armored vehicles.
The Netting
This set from Eduard provides Barracuda desert camouflage netting. This has a single color red-brown painted on the underside, and a mixed color upper side consisting of red-brown, tan, and medium green. The netting is very thin and flexible, so it should be able to conform to whatever shape you want it to fit to. For those who want to roll it up and tie it to the side of an AFV, that should work well also, although I am not sure how the cut ends will work out. This will definitely be something to discover via trial and error.
Conclusion
This is a useful accessory for the 1/35 armor modeler, whether for stowing on a vehicle or for draping over a subject in a vignette. My thanks to Eduard for the review sample.
