Brengun 1/144 BK-2 Soviet Armored River Boat
By Matt Bittner
Overview
Unfortunately it's difficult to find information on the Soviet BK-2 river boat. It appears this specific version was more of a fast reconnaissance boat than its larger cousin. Even so, finding information is quite difficult.
The Kit
The Brengun 1/144 BK-2 Soviet Armored River Boat consists of nine pieces of gray resin and a photoetch fret of 16 pieces, including templates to spray the hull markings. No decals are included.
Construction will go quickly once all parts are removed from their pour blocks. Glue the photoetch handle to the rear gun, then glue it to the two pieces of its mount. Glue the gun to the main turret, then glue all the parts for the screw and control shaft to the underside of the main hull. Turn it over and glue the turret to the upper part of the hull, along with the rear gun and phototetch side for that area. While there are fold-up photoetch pieces for over the rear part of the hull, like this Let Let Let review of Brengun's 1/72 kit states, there aren't any photos that shows that structure so you might want to leave it off. The last part of construction is adding the rear photoetch pieces and the life preserver to the top of the hull. After painting the main body then use the photoetch templates to spray the boat's number to the sides.
Conclusion
This won't be a difficult kit to assemble. You'll want to create some type of base for it, though, as just leaving it "on the shelf" with no support, will damage the underside screw and everything around it. I'm hoping to show it in water, at the edge of a river bank. Some day...
I definitely thank Brengun for sending this review sample.
