RS Models 1/72 Curtiss Hawk II "Ernst Udet"
By Matt Bittner
The Kit
I'm not going into any detail on this one, as it's the same as the other non-float Curtiss Hawk II, parts-wise. The only difference is in the markings. This one comes with decals for the Hawk II Ernst Udet flew in Germany; a Hawk II from Bolivia during the Gran Chaco War; and finally, a Hawk II that flew for Thailand in 1936. All three are the standard aluminum-dope and aluminum painted metallic parts scheme.
Conclusion
An excellent kit, and also like the "Cuba" version it comes with the floats that are also supplied in the float-plane version. I do hope RS comes out with more Curtiss Hawks, as they're a favorite of mine.
My thanks to UMM USA for this review sample.
