Hauler 1/72 German Rocket V-2/A4
By Jacob Russell
The German Rocket V-2/A4
The V-2 Rocket was the world's first long range guided ballistic missile. It weighed approximately 27,600 pounds and its warhead was 2200 pounds of Amatol explosive, a mixture of TNT and ammonium nitrate. The propellant was an 8400 pound mixture of ethanol (75%), water (25%) and 10, 820 pounds of liquid oxygen. The guidance system was a Muller-type pendulous gyroscopic accelerometer and its operational range was 200 miles with a maximum speed of 3,580 mph. It was a deadly and effective weapon.
The Model
Hauler's multi media kit comes in a medium sized end opening box. It consists of 40 parts. 22 of these are resin and there are 18 photo etch parts on a small fret. The resin parts are superbly detailed with. TheĀ parts have well located casting blocks and they will be easy to remove.
The photo etch parts include handles, etc. Hauler's instructions are well illustrated with a logical build sequence. The color choices are simple: overall Dark Green (RLM 70 or 71?) with a "European Yellow" launchpad, or a Dark Green upper with a white lower end with black stripes and black/white fins.
Conclusion
This is a great kit. It's accurate (as far as I can see), well detailed and won't be that difficult to build.. I hesitate to recommend this kit to a novice modeler due to the small PE parts which could be a handful. I would like to thank Hauler for the review sample.
