1/72 Lancaster B Mk.1 "No.617 Squadron Special Mission"
Bigger, better bombs
At 12,000 pounds each, Tallboy bombs needed specially modified Lancasters to transport them to target—and the Tallboys were actually the lighter of the two special weapons England deployed to stop the V-weapons program. At 22,000 pounds, "Grand Slam" bombs were the most powerful conventional bombs deployed in WWII. These weapons were designed to damage hardened structures through earthquake-like vibrations. They were used to great effect against submarine pens, fortifications, and tunnels.
Kit Features:
Convertible kit of Tallboy/Grand Slam bombs, aircraft model, and decals for:
- RAF No.617 Squadron Code: YZ-C (PB996) March, 1945 (Grand Slam)

1/48 Nakajima Ki-43-III Hayabusa (Oscar) "48th Flight Regiment"
Ferocious but largely forgotten
The Mitsubishi A6M Zero gets all the attention and all the credit, but it was the Nakajima Ki-43 that actually shot down more Allied pilots than any other Japanese aircraft. It was maneuverable, fast, and lethal. Like its more famous compatriot, however, the Ki-43 suffered from light armor and a lack of self-sealing fuel tanks. These two features together made the Hayabusa highly vulnerable to damage from enemy fighters.
Kit Features:
New cowling, exhaust pipe, oil cooler, wheel, and fuel pipe parts plus decals for:
- IJAAF 48th FR, Code: 21, China 1945.
- IJAAF 48th FR, Code: 35, China 1945.

Sturdy and reliable, it was later adapted for use as a transport, trainer and bomber in civilian service.
