Today I had the pleasure of building Testors' new quick-build models. Overall I was very impressed by them because the only thing you need is snippers because every thing else is included; paint, brush, and decals. The Saleen was very quick indeed and the detail was very good. The instructions were very clear and painting was labeled right
on the part. The easiest part was putting it together because all of them just snap together. Also the wheels move and don't fall off? The F4U Corsair was pretty much the same; the details where a little off but still very good and very easy. This one comes with
a stand and is even easier to paint even though you have a lot of extra paint! Overall I do like the kits and do recommend this to kids who like models but aren't patient with detail.
[Editor's Note: Aaron did finish each one in
about 15 minutes. Unfortunately the Corsair came with Mustang decals, and by the time Testors thankfully corrected the error (great response by them, by the way), Aaron lost the instructions. Which is why only the national markings are
on his model. The Corsair is pretty decent in that the panel lines are engraved (maybe a little too thick, but they're still engraved) and it looks like a Corsair. So, if you're looking for a squadron of Corsairs, and don't mind the landing gear up, then the Testors kit is a viable option. The Corsair is in
1/72 while the Saleen is 1/32.]
Our thanks to the David L. Veres Company and Testors for the samples.
