Starting out the British series of FB Vampires is this classic example of an FB.5 from No. 112 Squadron during august 1951. This Vampire is in a silver finish overall with bright green tail, wingtips, and fuselage lightning bolt. The letters around the boom roundel are also bright green. The emblem of a black cat on a white circle is on the tail and centered on the lightning bolt. Scale Aircraft Modelling, Volume 14 Number 9 June 1992 pp 402. |
Here is a very sharp looking Vampire. This is WR120, a Vampire FB.9 of No. 213 Squadron during 1954. The paint scheme reflects the squadron wasp insignia. Colors are yellow and black, with the WR120 being stenciled on. Overall silver. This one really stands out! Scale Aircraft Modelling, Volume 14 Number 9 June 1992 pp 403. |
The final British FB series Vampire is this nice bird. This is WR266, a Vampire FB.9 of No. 607 Squadron of the RAuxAF. It is camouflaged in dark green and dark sea gray over silver undersurfaces. The squadron markings are buff and mauve. Here is a plane from the fifties outfitted in yuppie colors! Scale Aircraft Modelling, Volume 14 Number 9 June 1992 pp 393. |
