stepSander Crowned Sanding Tool
By Matt Bittner
When I first reviewed the stepSander sanding tools, I mentioned how much I consider them a "must" for the modeling workbench. I still believe that. Now, stepSander has added another that is a must for the modeler. This one is called the Crowned Sanding Tool, and its primary purpose is to sand curved surfaces. You can see in my image how I used it to sand the area on a 1/72 BT-8 where the rudder meets the fuselage. However, it can do so much more. If you have a curved surface where you need to remove something - say a plastic "pip" on the surface of a vacuformed wing - then you can rest assured you won't "flatten out the area" with a standard sanding stick. Use the stepSander Crowned Sanding Tool and you'll remove the "pip" without leaving a flat spot on the plastic.
Combine it with the other stepSanders and you have an excellent aresenal of sanding for your every modeling need.
Huge thanks to stepSander for supplying the Crowned Sanding Tool to review. Awesome!
