Decals has just released his new decal for the Special Hobby Lockheed
L-18 Lodestar. I just received it, and what a beautiful work of art it
is. You receive a very sharply laser printed decal, and as laser printed
decals are translucent, all main part of the decal is also printed in
yellow, to place under the red parts. There is an 8 page instruction included,
with color photos of interior and cockpit, and color profiles. Mika has
also included a profile so you can see whats wrong with the Special Hobby
kit.
Additionally, the brave modeller who want to correct all the fuselage
problems, will find also cheatlines that will fit the converted fuselage
with new windows included.....
There is also a brief history of the airline, and b&w photos of
the actual three planes you can build from the decal.
You can choose to order just the decal, or a special combo that includes
also a CD-R full of the following official Lodestar stuff:
Maintenance parts catalog (318 p),
Structural repair instructions (338 p),
Erection and maintenance instructions (236 p),
Contractor's parts catalog (278 p).
CONCLUSION
A very welcome decal for a model there are not many choices to choose
from a civil modelers point of view. This decal is highly recomended to
all with an interest in this timeframe of golden aviation. Let's hope
that somebody can supply Mika with enough reference work so he can also
make decals for the Lodestars of Pacific Alaska and Star Alaska.
