Print Scale 1/72nd Russian Civil War Nieuports

By Matt Bittner

This decal sheet - from Print Scale out of Russia - covers nothing but Russian Civil War (RCW) Nieuports. There are sixteen Nieuport schemes covered, and there exists enough decals on this sheet to do each and every one of them.

There may be other nationality Nieuports on here as well, but as the instructions are all in Russian it's difficult to be sure. The one scheme with the blue and yellow rudder I think is a Ukrainian machine. However, as I can't read the instructions I'm not exactly sure.

There are two books out there that cover RCW aircraft - one in better detail than the other. The first is in the well known series Red Stars, and it's number 3 in the series. The second book is another that's all in Russian, and it translates roughly into "Russian Civil War Aircraft". Both are highly recommended especially if you enjoy RCW aircraft.

These decals appear to be very well done and they're all in register. For the most part I like how Print Scale has printed some of the schemes up, except for one. I feel that the detail on the "woman shooting the bow" isn't as high as it should be. Other than that, the rest of the decals are definitely recommeded.

For those interested in obtaining Print Scale decals, I have the following instructions from the owner, Alexander Chekhovsky. First, email him enquiring about the decals you want to purchase. Once everything is beneficial to both parties, he sends you the decals and you wire money into his Maestro credit card. For now this is the only way you can do business with Print Scale.

I have permission to translate this sheet and have had it translated - now all I need is time to move the translation into the instruction sheet images.. Keep your eye on Internet Modeler - either this specific article or through some other means - and I'll provide an update on when I have finished moving the translation.
