Aeropoxy 1/72nd USSR-Russia WW2 & Modern National Markings Airbrush Masks | | These airbrush masks from Aeropoxy provide a plethora of small stars applicable to VVS and Russian aircraft and/or armor. The instructions have you cut around each star by a certain amount which can be used after the majority of painting is accomplished. However, I suspect that you could also do it the other way around. First spray the red, lay the actual star over the red where the marking should go and then continue with the camouflage scheme. It appears these masks are from the same material used in the Eduard canopy masks. If that's the case, then these should work as advertised as long as you don't leave the masks on for too long. In addition, the instructions state they can be used over again for approximately three models for each marking. I haven't had a chance to use them yet, but I have a number of VVS projects that I will try them out on. Unfortunately the 1/72nd set is too small for most VVS fighters, outside of the Polikarpovs and maybe rudder markings. While I haven't seen them, I bet the 1/48th set would work for the rest of the VVS fighters and some of the bombers, and maybe the 1/32nd set would work for the larger bombers in 1/72nd, e.g. the Pe-8. One of these days I plan on purchasing these other two sets to see for myself. My thanks to Aeropoxy for providing the review masks. | |
