US Army AH-1 Cobra Units in Vietnam

by Jonathan Bernstein, Osprey Publising, ISBN 1-84176-606-2, 96 pages, softbound.

Here is a great title for Snake historians and rotary-wing modelers - the AH-1 Cobra in Vietnam. The author picks up the story with the development of the first gunship concepts at Bell Helicopter and follows through with a brief summary of this unique aircraft's development and deployment. The story gets into high gear with the first Cobras arriving in Vietnam, the crews that loved the aircraft, and some of the grueling experiences from using the Cobra to save soldiers on the battlefield. There are twelve pages of color profiles representing aircraft from across Vietnam and three pages of full-color photographs. The remainder of the book is well-illustrated with B&W photography and drawings.

This book is a must-have for the aviation historian and the Snake modeler! You can purchase this and any of the Osprey series from Motorbooks or from your favorite bookstore.

My sincere thanks to Motorbooks for these review samples!
