Several months ago, I was pleased to review a book written by our own Richard Marmo on Building Resin Aircraft. This book was targeted toward the intermediate modeler seeking to enter the world of multimedia kits.

Now in a joint venture between Euro Modelismo and Squadron/Signal Publications, a new book has come on the scene and this one is aimed at beginning AND intermediate modelers. If you've read any of the Euro Modelsmo modeling magazines, these are extremely high quality publications, much like the Verlinden modeling publications used to be before they became expensive advertisements for Verlinden products.

This first volume deals with aircraft modeling and has all of the topics one would expect of a good modeling how-to publications. What sets this one apart from the pack are the outstanding illustrations and the open discussion of easy modeling techniques that will help jump-start the beginning modeler into some advanced-looking results.

Topics include Basic Aviation Modeling Techniques, Airbrushing (and with the latest technologies, not a re-hash of old stuff), Metalized Effects and Camouflage, Interior Detailing, Varnish Effects, The First Jets (The MiG-15), Modern Fighters (The Su-27), Modern Jets (The F-14A Plus), Special Painting Techniques, and Aircraft Super Detailing. These 200 pages are beautifully illustrated with full-color photographs and step-by-step instructions. This one is a must-have even for more experienced modelers that need to brush up (no pun intended) on seldom used skills. You can find this title soon at a hobby shop or bookstore near you, or you can always go online to Squadron Mail Order and have some instant gratification.

My sincere thanks to Squadron/Signal Publications for this review copy!
