(Editor's note: Lori lives in the Chicago area and is married to one of my best friends. She's a talented modeler but not especially loquacious!) This was a real easy kit to build. The instructions were easy to follow, except for detailing. They only showed you a few parts and what color they should be. I used my son's NASCAR die cast collection to help me with the colors of the parts and body. There wasn't much flash to take off. The back side of the roll cage did not fit, it was too short. It would be better to use an aftermarket roll cage. The decals for the drivers helmet were too big and did not want to set tight, so I painted the helmet instead. The driver fit fine into the cockpit without any fuss. The engine, drive shaft and exhaust fit together without problems. The front of the dash was warped and did not fit onto the body, I tried to glue it but would not work. Putty is needed to close the gap but once the body is on you are not able to see that problem. For painting the very small detailed parts I used a tooth pick and sometimes a needle. To finish it off, I detailed the wheels and fixed some of the exterior details. I have not had much experience in building cars so this pre-painted kit made it pretty easy for me. (Review kit provided courtesy of your friendly editor's wallet.) | |
