UM (Unimodel) 1/72nd BT-2

By Matt Bittner

History

I will forgo a history lesson on the BT-2, as I covered some of it in my full build of the UM BT-5.

The Kit

The UM 1/72nd BT-2 consists of 102 injected plastic pieces and a fret of 12 photoetch pieces. Everything is still well molded as on their BT-5. Markings are for three machines and the decals are sharp and in register.

Construction is the same as the BT-5. It starts with the lower hull, building it up using nine main pieces. From there all the smaller pieces are added, including the fenders. The biggest difference between the BT-2 and the BT-5 is the turret.

Conclusion

This is another awesome kit from Unimodel. Since I have already built the BT-5, I know of the potential problems with the rest of the BT series of tanks (UM also has out the BT-7 and has announced a few more in the BT line). I would refer to the article on the BT-5 as a supplement to this First Look. Highly recommended!
