Qantas 737-800 Decals

By Chris Banyai-Riepl

A new release from Hawkeye, this sheet provides all you need to make a New Generation 737 in Qantas livery. The first thing I noticed was the inclusion of resin winglets, a nice touch. Unfortunately the instructions do not explain where to cut the wings to add these winglets. If you are familiar with the Braz winglets, though, this should be no problem as these are one and the same, right down to the slightly too rounded leading top edge.

Moving on to the actual decals, these appear to be printed by a laser printer, which means a base coat of white is required. There was no white kangaroo in my example, but I am assuming that this is an accidental omission. As the majority of the Qantas 737-800 is white, this is not a problem. The only other items to paint on are the Qantas red for the tail & winglets, and the Qantas gold trim. For both of these colors the instruction sheet provides Tamiya color mixes. The decals include registrations and names for fourteen separate aircraft. Wing walkways, overwing exit paths, engine stencils and a complete set of window decals are also included.

This sheet is a nice addition to the growing 737-800 line-up currently available and the attractive Qantas livery will look quite nice on the Revell-Germany kit.
