Armo 1/72 T-34/85 Decals Part 1

By Chris Banyai-Riepl

This first of several nice 1/72 armor decals from Armo deal with the T-34/85, and this sheet includes quite a wide variety to choose from. Armo chose to flood the modeler with choices on this sheet, with no less than eighteen options on this small sheet, some of them rather striking, considering that the decal sheet contains only two colors. The choices are:

T-34/85 with flattened turret, 95th Tank Brigade, 9th Tank Corps, Berlin, May 1945.
T-34/85 with flattened turret, 4th Guard “Minsk” Tank Brigade, 2nd Guard Tank Corps, Minsk, July 1944.
T-34/85 with flattened turret, 51st Tank Regiment, East Prussia, Winter 1945.
T-34/85 with composite model 1944 turret, unknown regiment, Berlin 1945.
T-34/85 with angle-jointed turret, 164th Tank Brigade, 16th Tank Corps, Warka-Magnuszew, Summer 1944.
T-34/85 with flattened turret, 4th Armored Brigade, 1st Armored Corps, Germany, April 1945.
T-34/85 with flattened turret, 1st “Bohaterow Westerplatte” Armored Brigade, Zlotov, February 1945.
T-34/85 with flattened turret, 63rd Guard Cheliabinsk Tank Brigade, 4th Guard Armored Army, Prague, May 1945.
T-34/85 with flattened turret, unknown unit, East Prussia, 1945.
T-34/85 with flattened turret, 2nd Motorcycle Battalion, 1st Armored Corps, Czechoslovakia, May 1945.
T-34/85 with flattened turret, 2nd Armored Brigade, 1st Armored Corps, Germany, 1945.
T-34/85 with flattened turret, unknown unit, Russia, summer 1944.
T-34/85 with flattened turret, 41st Guard Armored Brigade, 7th Mechanized Corps, Hungary, February 1945.
T-34/85 with composite model 1945 turret, 4th Guard Tank Corps, November 1945.
T-34/85 with flattened turret, 2nd Motorcycle Battalion, 1st Armored Corps, Czechoslovakia, May 1945.
T-34/85 with flattened turret, 16th Armored Brigade, 2nd Polish Army, Czechoslovakia, May 1945.
T-34/85 with model 1943 late production turret, unknown unit, Russia, summer 1944.

The decals are well printed, and as they are in either white or red, there is no registration to worry about. These decals will result in some interesting T-34/85s, especially when combined with Part 2.

My thanks to Jadar Model for the review sample. Armo decals are available from Jadar and Roll Models.
