Airline Modeller Magazine Volume 7 No. 2 Reviewed by David Clark Airline Modeller is a quarterly magazine produced in America. It has been around for a while now (the review copy was Volume 7 No 2), although this is the first time I've seen it. It's produced and edited by Russell Brown of Arizona, and is (as the name suggests) aimed squarely at those of us who enjoy modelling airliners and other civil aircraft. It is produced on quality A4 size stock. It includes a good selection of photographs, some in colour. General standard of publication is high, with no apparent glitches. The review copy's 28 pages included: -
an in-depth article on converting the Hasegawa P-3 back to an Electra (an interesting and, I suspect, in some ways better alternative to the Roodecals conversion kit available from the Victorian Hobby Centre); -
an article on producing a spectacularly colourful Austin Airways (Canadian) DC-3 in 1/48, using the Monogram C-47 and the Leading Edge decal sheet; -
Up Close and Detailed - everything you ever wanted to know but were mortally afraid to ask about B727 detail, extending over more than 70 B&W photographs on 11 pages (now there's no excuse for leaving anything off your Kendall 727 model ...!); -
a conversion of the VEB Tupolev 134 to a Tu.134A; -
reviews of the BraZ Tupolev 134A and the Eastern Express Bristol Britannia (the old 1/96 Frog kit in yet another reincarnation); -
a list of forthcoming releases; -
a review of recent publications featuring airliner and relevant modelling technique articles in other magazines; and -
a page of readers' photos. Recommended if you have any interest at all in modelling civil aircraft. Review copy from Sandle Hobbies, (see their web site, or harass Shane or Lorna at an APMA meeting). | |
