Warriors 1/35 Figures

By Michael Benolkin

‘Warriors’ is one of the product lines that comes from the creative minds of VLS. They’ve produced a wide range of 1/35 resin military figures that feature great detail and simple construction. This month, we preview ten of the many figure sets that Warriors has just released. The photos of each of the figure sets show both sides of each part with a red dividing line dividing the two sides. Click on the photo to see an enlarged view.

SS Grenadiers - Eastern Front

WA35489

MSRP $23.95 USD

Look at the detail in these castings! In the parts photo on the right, the right figure has his equipment pack molded onto his butt, yet there is no compromise in detail with such a complex casting. This is the type of quality that has become routine with Warriors. Amazing stuff! Detail right down to the tufts in the flaps of the right figure's hat.

US Infantry Advancing

WA35490

MSRP $23.95 USD

Here is another pair of figures that will animate your diorama without motion. While the figure on the left is cautiously advancing, the figure on the right is caught in mid-motion after being hit and is in the process of collapsing to the ground.

German Reconnaissance Troops

WA35491

MSRP $23.95 USD

Here is a pair of reconnaissance soldiers that obviously left their Zundapp or Kubel parked out of view. Once again the detail in both figures is quite impressive.

Luftwaffe StuG Crew

WA35492

MSRP $32.95 USD

I had to run to the books on this one - I thought Sturmgeschutz and Luftwaffe were mutually exclusive, but indeed the Fallschirmjager (paratroops) were part of the Luftwaffe rather than part of the Army as the US forces are organized. Here are three crew members at rest looking for the nearest pub in this town...

African T-55 Tank Crew #1

WA35500

MSRP $23.95 USD

Leave it to VLS to expand our vignette possibilities beyond the ordinary. Here is the first increment of figures for the outstanding Tamiya 1/35 T-55A kit. As the T-55 was exported around the world, one theater of operations that has been largely ignored by modelers has been the mid-African region. Here are a pair African soldiers perched atop their T-55 waiting for something to happen. Another nice aspect of this subject is the range of camouflage patterns you'll find on these uniforms - the possibilities are enormous!

Human Skeleton

WA35503

MSRP $14.95 USD

I was curious when I saw this box, then alarmed at the size of these anatomically correct parts. This set will give you a good challenge if you choose to model it as an erect skeleton as you'd find in a science classroom. On the other hand, if you're wanting to create a vignette with a message - from Hamlet to Bosnia, here are some parts to help achieve your message.

African Militiaman

WA35505

MSRP $12.95 USD

To accompany your African T-55 tank crew, here is a militiaman standing watch with his AK-47 and (not pictured in the box art but present in the photo on the right) his shortwave radio/boom box.

German Head Set #56

WA35506

MSRP $8.95 USD

It is hard to believe that Warriors has produced so many varieties of German heads, but in this set of six heads, the troops are wearing normal infantry helmets and will add variety to any kit or aftermarket figure.

African T-55 Tank Crew #2

WA35507

MSRP $23.95 USD

Here is part two of the African T-55 tank crew - these two chaps are pictured sitting in the hatches of their tank but you'll note in the photo on the right that these are not half-height figures, these are complete figures so that they will not compromise the details of your tank when the judges peek down the open hatches.

German Head Set #57

WA35508

MSRP $8.95 USD

In this next set of six heads, the troops are wearing normal infantry helmets, though a few have them perched at different angles to add some mood to your figures.

You can purchase these and any of the Warrior line from your local hobby retailer or directly from VLS' website at www.modelmecca.com. They have some of the fastest mail order delivery in this industry - give them a try!

My sincere thanks to VLS for these review samples!
