F-DCAL 1/144 British Airways "Bennyhone" 777-200

By Chris Banyai-Riepl

The British Airways liveries depicting styles from around the world may not have been popular with the administration of BA, but they sure are great subjects to model. F-DCAL has stepped up to the plate with a large selection of these liveries, including this one for the 777. The decal sheet, designed for a 1/144 777, is quite large, filling an 8.5x11 page. You get full tail decals as well as separate pieces to fit around the rear fuselage. The colors on these parts are dense, but since these are printed on a laser printer you'll still need to undercoat the areas with white. This isn't a problem, as only the lower belly of the fuselage is blue, leaving the rest white.

In addition to the striking tail markings, the sheet includes the fuselage flash and titles, incorporated with the windows and doors. Since two aircraft wore these tail markings, F-DCAL provides two sets of registration codes. Also included are the prominent over-fuselage emergency access hatches and other various stenciling.

With the Minicraft 777 kit readily available, aftermarket decals are going to become more and more popular. This is a great sheet for a colorful Triple 7 and should look great sitting on the shelf. My thanks to F-DCAL for the review sample. Be sure to check out their website for other great liveries.
