The new color scheme of Icelandair is an attractive livery, with a wavy version of their logo in yellow on a deep blue tail and a deep blue fuselage belly, accented with a yellow division line. The engine nacelles are also yellow, resulting in one of the more beautiful 757 liveries. This sheet provides all you need for the basic livery, as well as some detail markings. The tail is provided as one piece, with the logo and titles incorporated with it. The yellow cheatline is provided in several pieces, with plenty of extra to make sure you've got enough. The windows and door outlines are combined, with the fuselage Icelandair titles set in place as well. This sheet also provides the "Holidays" titles worn by TF-FIW. If you want to do one of the other aircraft you'll have to carefully trim away those parts.F-DCAL uses a laser printer to print their decals, and as such there are some differences in using these compared to traditional decals. The laser printer inks are translucent, so these require an undercoating of white. For the most part this is no problem, as generally airliner liveries consist mainly of white. Where it could be a problem with this livery, though, is with the thin yellow cheatline separating the dark blue belly from the white upper fuselage. Since this requires a white background, you’ll have to be very careful in masking the separation to ensure a white background. A good workaround with this sheet would be to just paint the yellow line, especially since the yellow needs to match the engine nacelles. This sheet is a welcome addition to airliner modelers, and the laser printing method allows for a much better representation of gradients found on many newer liveries such as the logo on the tail of this one. If you’ve got a spare Minicraft 757 lying around, this would be a nice sheet to use on it.For other interesting decals, be sure to check out the F-DCAL website, featuring a nice catalog and online ordering. |
