The Journal Of the Airplane 1920-1940,
No. 64, October 2002

For most model building fans of "Golden Age" airplanes the main focus in this issue of Skyways will be upon the many great photos of the reproduction Sikorsky S-38 painted in black and white Zebra stripes as "Osa's Ark" of Martin and Osa Johnson travel movies fame. This is especially timely as we will very shortly have new 1:72 scale resin kits of both the Sikorsky S-38 and S-39 from the Czech Republic.

Also of great interest to modelers is Part One of an article on the Doering brothers, master model builders from the 1930's and '40's. You will be amazed by the level of detail and quality of work achieved by these two talented men in their large static scale models.

This year's EAA extravaganza - Oshkosh Airventure 2002 - is well covered and provides us with many photos of beautiful "Golden Age" airplanes.

Other features include: Curtiss CW-22 Falcon - Part 2, The 2003 National Air Tour, Flying the S-38, My Life in Aviation - Part 2 - by Wolf Zurwelle.

All the regular departments are present in this issue as well.

As with its companion quarterly journal, WWI Aero, you really need to see a copy of this publication to appreciate it. Send 'em $4.00 for a sample copy, or $35.00 for a year's subscription; $40.00 in Canada and elsewhere.
